New Pictures!
Trying to be Patient
We haven't had a ton of action lately. We had a couple here and there, but today is Sunday and that means that we took some extra time to document what is going down around here.
On Easter I was showing our aunt how the whole butterfly gig works and accidentally found 6 cats in the process. They have since pupated and 3 of them have eclosed this weekend!
Here are the pics from today's couple, which stuck around for a while and were very patient with me while I documented their arrival. One male, one female - and hopefully that means a bunch of eggs soon!!
The male stopped by my columbine plant - I couldn't have asked for a better photo! |
They hung out together on the milkweed - hopefully they will return here later. It seems like when they leave, they go to the trees on the property next door to roost. |
Before he took off to the tree, the male landed on my watercolor butterfly tattoo |
This pair was very friendly and crawled right onto my finger. My little helper was inside playing because he said that there were too many stickers in the yard... |
It was really fun to sit out in the sun and watch these guys transition into the world outside of the enclosure. While I was out there, I found a little caterpillar and a bunch of ladybug eggs. Sometimes this little hobby is exactly what I need to transition into the week myself.
